Fire alarm and extinguishing systems
A fire alarm and extinguishing system is an essential part of the secure operation of a data center. An intelligently planned and sustainably installed technical fire protection system can prevent risks and ensure personal and property protection.

Safety is Our Top Priority
The central elements include smoke aspiration systems that are more secure against deception and are used in combination with a properly designed fire alarm system. Supplemented by an extinguishing system, which is characterized by its climate-friendly extinguishing agent (GWP<1), the data center is optimally protected.
You can rely on us when it comes to active and passive fire protection. Our experts have many years of experience in the planning, implementation and maintenance of fire alarm systems (BMA) and fire extinguishing or fire extinguishing systems (BLA). In particular, the requirements in the environment of IT infrastructures require comprehensive know-how. With us by your side, you can sit back and relax - your safety is our top priority!
Resilient Infrastructure Design
The fire alarm control panel (FACP) and the electrical control device (EST) are two essential components of a safe fire protection system. The fire alarm control panel sounds an alarm as soon as a fire is detected. The electrical control device automatically shuts off electrical appliances to prevent the fire from spreading further. Automatic fire extinguishing systems are used when a fire breaks out. The energies required for this can be hydraulic or electric. In the latter case, the fire extinguishing system is usually preceded by a fire alarm system that sounds the alarm as soon as a fire is discovered. This center records the message from the fire detector and forwards the activation command to the control unit of the extinguishing system. This controls all functions of the extinguishing system as well as all alarm devices and controls related to extinguishing.
Function of a fire extinguishing system
If a fire breaks out in an extinguishing area, this is detected by the automatic fire detectors and reported to the fire panel. If the BMZ receives two messages from the same extinguishing area, it forwards a control command for the area affected by the fire to the EST. The EST activates the acoustic and visual alarm devices in the extinguishing area and at the same time opens the valve of the pneumatic control bottle via an electrical impulse.
The pneumatic energy from the control bottle reaches the area control valves. The EST electrically opens the area control valve responsible for the area affected by the fire, which forwards the pneumatic energy to the associated area valve and opens it. After a delay time that may be adjusted to the size of the extinguishing area, which serves to evacuate people from the extinguishing area, the group control valve of the extinguishing agent battery is opened by the EST. The pneumatic control energy reaches the quick-opening valves of the extinguishing agent tank via this valve, which are thereby opened. The BMZ receives feedback from the EST via the standard extinguishing interface (SST) that the extinguishing system has been triggered.
The extinguishing agent is fed through the extinguishing agent tanks, pressure-reducing devices, area valves, distribution pipework and extinguishing nozzles into the extinguishing area, where it is evenly distributed. The pressure relief valve opens as soon as the extinguishing gas enters to prevent an impermissible increase in room pressure caused by the extinguishing agent. When flooding is complete, the pressure relief valve is closed to ensure the required hold time. The extinguishing agent lowers the oxygen content in the extinguishing area and extinguishes the fire.
If people present detect a fire in front of the automatic fire detectors, the extinguishing system can be activated manually using a manual trigger. In this case, the extinguishing control process is identical to that of automatic control by the fire alarm system. If desired and necessary, the transmission device to the fire brigade is activated via the feedback "extinguishing system triggered" to the BMZ (fire alarm control panel).
