ISO 22237
The ISO/IEC 22237 standard is a global series of standards consisting of 7 parts, of which Part 1, Part 3 and Part 4 have been published so far. The remaining parts 2, 5, 6 and 7 are available as technical specifications and will gradually be adopted as a standard.

This standard provides an optimal framework for planners, builders, operators, managers, customers and tenants of data centers - both new and existing data centers - as it codifies the principles discussed and harmonized by European bodies. In addition, the ISO/IEC 22237 standard provides planners with internationally uniform planning parameters, which are also contained in EN 50600.
ISO/IEC 22237 is a standard that sets clear requirements for data center availability, protection and energy efficiency. These must already be taken into account in the planning and execution phase.
The standard is divided into seven parts:
- ISO/IEC 22237-1 – Information technology- Data centre facilities and infrastructures Part 1: General concepts
- ISO/IEC 22237-2 – Information technology- Data centre facilities and infrastructures Part 2: Building construction
- ISO22237-3 – Information technology – Data centre facilities and infrastructures Part 3: Power distribution
- ISO22237-4 – Information technology – Data centre facilities and infrastructure Part 4: Environmental control
- ISO22237-5 – Information technology – Data centre facilities and infrastructure Part 5: Telecommunications cabling infrastructure
- ISO22237-6 – Information technology – Data centre facilities and infrastructure Part 6: Security systems
- ISO22237-7 – Information technology – Data centre facilities and infrastucture Part 7: Management and operational information

Risk Assessment
Based on this, the availability class (VK1-VK4), the protection class (SK1-SK4), and the granularity level (GN1-GN3) required for energy efficiency measurements are defined for the Data Center operation before planning begins, taking into account the specifications from the standard. In summary, this results in the individual Data Center classification.
Our Experience and Expertise
High Knowledge has been successful in the data center industry for many years and has carried out various certifications according to DIN EN 50600 - from small data centers to hyperscalers. On this basis, our experts, in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland, have also developed the certification process for ISO/IEC 22237 and can offer you certification according to ISO/IEC 22237 in all relevant markets, such as Europe, the USA, India or Singapore. Our founder Harry Knopf has been a member and co-author of the EN 50600 standardization committee for data centers for many years and supports the conversion of DIN EN 50600 into the international standard ISO/IEC TS 22237.
We plan data centers and IT infrastructure according to the specifications of ISO TS 22237 and accompany you as accredited TÜV auditors through the entire certification process. This includes checking and evaluating the status quo, audits and pre-audits up to the actual certification. With our team, we cover all subject areas of the standard completely.
